Leadership

28 Dec 2012

The end of 2012 saw the demise of 2 stalwarts of the commodities industry in Malaysia. I relate to these 2 champions because they were also serving the palm oil industry when I was attached with the Malaysian Palm Oil Board(MPOB) commencing 1982-2005.
Tun Dr Lim Kheng Yaik was the Primary Industries Minister (1986-2004). The other was Tan Sri Wong Kum Choon, former Secretary-General of the Primary Industries Ministry who worked closely with Dr Lim throughout his tenure from 1972-1993. Wong passed away on Nov14 2012 while Lim on 22 December 2012.
Both these leaders were instrumental in the planning, growth and development of the commodities sector, providing focus, impetus and direction for key cornerstone industries such as palm oil, timber, and rubber through their most challenging milestones. It was also during their tenure that they brought greater focus to the commodity sector, consolidating disparate commodity agencies into a single entity to handle each of the commodities. These include the formation of MPOB, Malaysian Rubber Board, Malaysian Palm Oil Council, Malaysian Timber Council and the like.
Strategic development in 1980s resulted in the golden age of palm oil during mid 2005.
My heart goes to both Toh Puan Lim and Pn Sri Kim Wong Kam Choon and their bereaved families for the loss of their beloved husbands and fathers.
May God Bless them All.....

ZaraZin Shoppe

1 July 2012
My sisters and I open a shop in Melaka, our beloved state, to woo the tourists who come to this historical   city where it all began. We are selling batik casuals, gemstone jewellery, souvenir items and knick knacks for tourists.
This year 2012 marks the 750th anniversary of our beloved state. Born and bred in Melaka, we are very proud to set up this shop along Jalan Bendahara within the city centre. We hope our little shop can help further promote Melaka in the eyes of tourists, looking for unique items and souvenirs to remember by their visit to Malaysia.

9 April 2012
We organised a business trip to Bandung and Jakarta, Indonesia mid-April, just to take a break from Anggerik Mall. And what a wonderful break we have had. Bandung is a beautiful city, still deep in agriculture because of the fertile soil from the volcanic spills. The strawberries there were wonderfully sweet! The people are a hardworking lot, very blessed and satisfied with what life had to offer there. Most of us brought back momentoes of our visit there - telekong from Tanah Abang, cheap lace material from Pasar Baru, fashionable blouses from Rumah Mode, and relaxing massages at Rogers and Zen Reflexology.

1 May 2012
Since we started organising our mailto:GarageSale@AnggerikMallin Shah Alam since January 2012 this year, I have observed that the more you help people in business, the more business gains you get. And this is especially true when we approached and organise petty traders to set up shop, selling used and pre-loved personal belongings, books, collectibles, porcelainware and other household items at our premises every Sunday. It has been 3 months now.....and everybody is happy with their weekend activity.
Hence, I believe in Recycle, Reuse, Regenerate RM!

Karnival PUAM 2011

1 January 2012
I felt our month-long preparation for the Karnival PUAM at Anggerik Mall on the nite of 1st January 2012 paid off very well indeed. The Organizing Committee received an overwhelming response from the attendees who came in stunning Arabian gear, right from the talented Nina as the MC for the nite to little boys and girls dressed in bling bling Arabian garb. Overall, it was a highly successful evening. It was a personal success for me because the management of MARA as the owner / facilitator of Anggerik Mall assured us that they support our plan of organising the GarageSale@AnggerikMall every Sunday beginning 8 January 2012. To me, the Karnival Nite had paved the way for a better platform for the small businessmen to interact with the building management for the common interests of both parties. May the new year 2012 bring in more wealth to all, insyAllah

Garage Sale Anggerik Mall 2-3 July 2011

1 July 2011
Since February, I have been idling away my life after the death of my beloved mother. But I believe life must go on. I have been trying hard to come out with something worthwhile in life, wanting to make my prescence felt amongst folks around me, trying to make a difference to benefit the people I get in touch with. In April, I was voted in to the post of Asst Treasurer of Persatuan Usahawan Anggerik Mall(PUAM), hence feeling that I must do something to wake up the sleeping hollow that is our shopping premises.http://www.anggerikmall.wordpress.com/ Then in May, I was voted in again as one of the Jawatan Kuasa Tertinggi (JKT) of PUSPANITA. So I feel entrusted to perform and create activities useful to the members of our Association.http://www.puspanita.org.my/
With this revival in my life, I am back in gear and moving things around. Together with a friend and backed up by PUAM, we are organising a Garage Sale on 2-3 July at our shopping premises to liven things up. We want to make Anggerik Mall as happening as Amcorp Mall in Petaling Jaya. Only time will tell.....

Borneo Antiques

25 September 2010
I took a trip to Kuching, Sarawak from 19 - 22 September. Even though I had been to this Sarawakian capital some years ago, I was tempted to come again just to update myself about this city. There were some developments here and there, new shopping complexes - The Spring, Tun Jugah Shopping Complex , as well as new hotels - The Four Seasons Hotel on the way to the Airport and Santa Magherita (formerly The Holiday Inn) overlooking the meandering Sungai Sarawak.
I took a relaxing walk up and down the Avenue and enjoyed every miniute of it, in the morning as well as in the evening. I also dropped in at the shops, now selling much more stuff for tourists like T-shirts, beautifully engraved key rings, etc. I have always loved Sarawak's wood work and craft. However, this time I was attracted to the antique brass earrings of the Orang Ulu. In fact, I bought 3 pairs each for both male and female. I shall frame them up and add on to my stock of frames of collectible items. These frames should adorn the living room and dining hall of antique lovers!

Transfer Factor

17 July 2010
All along, I have been conscious of the nutritional values of food. Every food, whether it is plant or animal-based,  has got its own nutritional values embedded in them. Otherwise, God would not have created them for the benefit of mankind. I believe in the old cliche that
You Are What You Eat. Since coming back from my holiday break in London (wherelse?), I thought I want to keep up with the London pace of brisk walking and minimal eating with sandwich snacks for lunch but a good meal for dinner. We also took back a good dose of dietary supplements to keep us healthy.
Then, I met up with an old friend, now  a Professor in one of the local Universities, who introduced me with a programme Transfer Factor - Immune Information Messenger Molecules - which impressed me quite a bit to register as a dealer. Transfer Factor claimed itself to be one of the Greatest Scientific Discovery of this Century, backed up by 50 years of research since 1949. This product also claimed to be the Most Powerful Immune System Product known to Science! And this Professor friend, who herself is a chemist, repeated the experiment and got back the same results. Impressed with this discovery, I enrolled as a dealer and my Gift Boutique is now selling the Transfer Factor products. The products are 100% natural, safe and halal, sources derived from bovine colostrum (cow's first milk) and egg yolk.
